My Classroom
The following pictures give you a sense of my classroom and the safety features of the room.
Here's a couple of pictures of the south wall. Notice lab aprons next to the computers and the fire blanket and fire extinguisher on the right side of the door.
Here's the west wall ... lots of glassware on the upper shelves. Below you see the eye wash station in the off and then on positions.
Next to the eye wash station is the fume hood for doing reactions in which noxious fumes are produced. There is a fire extinguisher at one side of the fume hood. Also notice more lab aprons.
Here's the expanded view as taken from the front of the classroom! One thing that is hard to see in that picture is our safety shower, pictured in the right below. Just pull down the handle (looks like a triangle) to set this into action.
On the north side of the classroom is a lot of cupboards and drawers. One cupboard contains a crate of safety goggles, pictured here on the left. On the right is a picture of the main set of drawers where we keep most of our basic equipment such as stirring rods and clamps. This is located on the south wall
Two other pictures - the left side picture is facing the front of my classroom (the east side). You can see the white board and overhead projection screen. My desk is on the right, just in front of the file cabinets. The right side picture is a close up!
You may have noticed a little panel just above the left hand file cabinet. That is our gas on/off switch. It operate when I turn a key to put the gas on and there is a red button to turn it off. It operate the gas to the taps. The two pictures below show the panel and some of the gas taps in the room.
