Business & Computer Studies
W. J. Mouat's Business and Computer Studies Department strives to help students to develop marketable job skills including keyboarding, accounting, computing and entrepreneurial skills. These skills are put into practise by creating school based businesses, creating 3-D Animation games, web pages and playing the stock market.

The Grad Transitions Program includes three areas required for graduation.  They are: Personal Health, Community Connections and Transiton Plan.

Accounting 11
Accounting 11 will introduce you to the basic fundamentals of a double entry accounting system. Accounting is a job skill; therefore, there will be considerable emphasis on performing to standards acceptable in the workplace. The program Simply Accounting, the Titan Business Simulation and the Monopoly board game will be used to reinforce the accounting concepts taught.

Animation 11 - 12
Provide motion to characters and objects you learn to make in Blender 2.5, the industry-standard open source 3D Model and Animation software. Students learning the planning, principles, and fundamentals of animation. Students will create game ready animation, using advanced tools such as lighting, rendering and editing. Projects increase in complexity and challenge as the course progresses.

Broadcasting
Learn how to stream live events through the internet. Gain valuable
Information Technology Skills and broadcast live sporting events. Learn how to set up
a good interview. Learn the ins and outs of calling a game as a play by play
commentator and what it takes to be a good color commentator. Learn to operate a
camera and what angles work best in filming a sporting event. This extended day
course is divided into two segments - classroom participation and actual hands on
game events.

Are you interested in business? If your answer is yes this is the course for you! Business Education 10 is an introductory business course which deals with four core Business areas: Marketing, Accounting, Entrepreneurship and Computers & Programming. Various projects are used to reinforce learning - such as online business games, creating commercials, presentations and using game-making programs. This course is essential for any student wanting to increase their knowledge of the business world!

Information Technology 10
Have fun learning new programs with the latest in software design and technology.
Learn to use a wide variety of applications such as: image-editing with Photoshop CS3;
web design with Dreamweaver 8; 2D animation with Flash 8; Game design solutions; 3D
computer programming with Alice and Java; and finish by learning how to take a
computer apart and put it together again! In Information Technology 10, students
develop capabilities in learning new software interfaces that will stay with them long
after the technology changes.
