WJ Mouat's Character Council met for the first time on November 30th, 2011. The group will be meeting monthly beginning in January, 2012. Representatives from existing leadership groups including Student Council, Social Justice, and PE Leadership are involved as well as reps from each grade, athletics, and the arts.
On Novemeber 30th, 2011, Mr. Comeau and Mr. Manuel gave students some historical context on the character movement in North America as well as the recent history of the movement in Abbotsford (City of Character) and at Mouat (School of Character).

The objectives of the group were laid out:
1. To weave the common language of good character; Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Caring, Awareness, Teamwork; into the great things already happening at Mouat
2. To initiate a few school-wide events to support the character movement

Monthly meetings will take place and an executive group will begin to meet weekly to help give direction to the council.

Mr. Comeau, principal, welcomes students to the first meeting of the Mouat Character Council (Nov. 30, 2011).

To be eligible, you must:
1. Be a current Mouat student in good standing
2. Be willing to
practice and promote the 6 values: Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Caring, Awareness, Teamwork
3. Be committed to
attend the 5 monthly meetings between January - June, 2012
